Background

The NHS Highland (NHSH) website existed, in its previous form, for 10 years. It offered an outdated experience for users, staff, and stakeholders.

Graft was commissioned to review and evaluate the NHSH website, prioritise the current and future needs of users, and identify technical requirements to underpin redevelopment work.

Approach

Taking a people-centered approach, we set out to understand the technical issues, the user experience and the strategic positioning options.

We ran a two-month programme of citizen, professional and stakeholder engagement. This involved 16 in-depth interviews, 2 focus groups and an online survey of 95 respondents, alongside analysis of 14 NHS Health Board websites.

Confidence in the brief for website redesign
A report outlining key recommendations was approved by Senior Leadership Teams to progress to procurement.
The right web design partner brought on board
We continued to advise the project team during specification and appointment of a digital development partner. 
An enhanced experience for NHS Highland web users
The NHS Highland website was relaunched in 2021.
