Background

TITTAN was an Interreg Europe funded project – with the Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre (DHI) and 7 European partners – to scale innovations that support healthy and active ageing in Scotland and across Europe.
To enable project partners to exchange knowledge about effects of COVID-19 on the ageing population; we were asked to develop six 'best practice' case studies that showcased innovative approaches to dealing with ageing in Scotland throughout the pandemic.
We gained insight into the design and implementation of Test and Protect, Connecting Scotland and Near Me to name a few.

Approach

We worked with the client to identify key projects that spearheaded new ways of working during COVID-19 and recruited project leads and contributors to share the projects and their unique approaches to innovation.
The health sector is a notoriously challenging place to initiate change, so, with our background in design and innovation, we could ask insightful questions to dig into the behaviours, methods, tools and strategies that allowed them to make a significant impact. The reality of the pandemic meant that many project leads hadn't had much opportunity to reflect on what had enabled their success - we were able to provide a structured method for them to examine their approach.
Finally, capturing their learnings, pitfalls and successes in an engaging way by collaboratively developing the story of each case study to facilitate the knowledge transfer to future innovators.

Impact

Enabled knowledge sharing in digital health innovations across Europe.

Aided the client in scaling innovation efforts of their partners.
